The expected result was to have a strong legislature that is capable of performing its legislative, representative, oversight and budget related roles and responsibilities. This aim was pursued through programs designed to assist Parliament’s efforts towards achievement of 4 main goals, which are: Improving the effectiveness and efficiency of legislative processes and procedures; Increasing Parliament’s access to civic input and specialized information and research; Strengthening Parliament’s capacity to review and analyze the national budget and engage on public finance issues; and Developing a system for measuring parliamentary performance. Also, the project focused, in part, on supporting Parliament’s efforts to strengthen itself as an institution and to enhance the vitality of the legislative process.
