NAP+ Ghana is a network of member associations representing persons living with HIV/AIDS in Ghana. It was established in 2005 to represent the views, hopes, and aspirations of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) across the country.
NAP+ Ghana aims to improve the quality of lives of PLHIV through effective participation in national policy and programme dialogue, information sharing, collaboration with partners, advocacy, and capacity strengthening.
The advisory board has been set up to supervise the National Executive Council (NEC) and review their performance; advice NEC on the Organization’s mission and purpose; ensure effective organizational planning; monitor NAP+ Ghana programmes and services; help NAP+ Ghana maintain a positive public image; mediate in any disputes that may arise; and support NAP+ Ghana to assist its performance.
The 13-member board consists of four NEC members as well as 10 regional chairs. The board has representation from Ghana Aids Commission (GAC), National AIDS Control Programme, Participating Development Associates (PDA), Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, West Africa AIDS Foundation(WAAF), Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), Coalition of NGO’s, FH1 360, NAP+ Ghana, Ministry of Education, Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ)and Ministry of Gender.
The president of WAAF, Mr. Eddie Dane Donton, who is also a board member, spoke on behalf of members of the board, expressing gratitude to the Executive Director of LRC for facilitating the inauguration. He stated that the members of the board were delighted to have been chosen, and they look forward to ensuring that donors’ monies are being used appropriately so as to ensure true “Value for Money” while avoiding leakages and shortages of resources. Again, he stressed the importance of education of society and accumulation of accurate data on PLHIV in Ghana.
As part of its contribution to the mission of NAP+ Ghana, LRC will partner with it to review its constitution to ensure the continuation of best legal practices in its administration and operations.
