After several years of consultative meetings, drafting, redrafting and validation meetings, the Legislative Instrument to the Human Trafficking Act, 2005 (Act 694) has been passed into law by Parliament. The LRC was contracted by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in March of 2011 to draft the Instrument. The L.I. will help to execute legal compliance with national and international law as a prerequisite for public and victims confidence in the justice system. It will also support in cutting down the serious range of threats posed by human trafficking crimes whilst creating the enabling environment for stakeholders to do vigorous and professional counter trafficking responsibility at both national and international levels.
