With funding support from our partner, Clooney Foundation for Justice (CFJ), Legal Resources Centre (LRC) together with nine (9) other Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in Sub-Sahara Africa are admitting female fellows to offer a one-year, fully funded fellowships to an inaugural class of ten early-career women lawyers.
The aim of CFJ’s Waging Justice is to challenge inequality through courts by representing vulnerable women who are in conflict with the Law.
Qualifications:
- Female lawyer called to the bar in any of these countries; Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Liberia and Gambia.
- Qualifications: Between two (2) and five (5) years at the bar.
- Age: 20 to 35 years
- Must be willing to relocate for a year to any of the above named countries.
- Must be experienced in gender issues.
Key issues to be tackled are cases such as removing legal barriers to girls’ education, combating child marriage, promoting accountability for gender-based violence, and combating economic discrimination and criminalization based on gender stereotypes.

Fellowship program starts in July 2023 – June 2024.
Fees: $25,000 for the whole year.
Note: If you apply from Ghana, you will not fellow with LRC but with a different CSO in other country as LRC will accept a fellow from another country.
However, LRC together with CFJ will interview applicants from Ghana.
