LRC was part of a select number of CSOs invited on Thursday 7th April  2016  by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to attend a  meeting  held by a mission of the UN to discuss issues bordering on  Human Rights in  Ghana. Varied Human Rights issues were discussed.  Daniel Atchebro, who  serves as a focal point for Ghana told the meeting  that their focus for engaging  CSOs were on:

  1. Following up on the Universal Periodic Review(UPR) including implementation of international instruments;
  2. Promoting the effective implementation of the Convention against torture in West Africa;
  3. Ensuring the effective implementation of the Human Rights Up Front strategy of the UN Secretary General; and
  4. Strengthening the capacity of national human rights institutions and civil society actors in monitoring and reporting on human rights and elections.

On the way forward, the Mission was going to put together tailor made trainings for CSOs on UPR and the content of Treaties and Conventions. LRC also pledged its support to collaborate with the Mission to track and monitor human rights violations before, during and after Elections 2016.
